Summary/Abstract: Hegel subordinated the freedom of the subjective spirit to the freedom of the objective spirit, and the latter to the freedom of the absolute spirit. In this way, he deprived all subjects of their freedom for the sake of the freedom of the absolute spirit. In this way, the freedom of the absolute spirit was transformed into absolutist freedom, which denies everything that is not identical with it. To this day, we observe three absolutisms in the world: individualistic, collectivist, and theological. They all oppose the Christian concept of freedom, because Christianity considers freedom not only a task, but also a gift. However, Hegel must be acknowledged for having remained an inspiration for philosophical thought with his concept of the objective spirit to this day. His diagnoses are correct, but the solutions do not offer us the right answers. His philosophy wants to overcome divisions and separations, but this cannot be achieved by the absolutist abolition of individual subjects.
