Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the relations of Paweł Kubisz, a Polish poet from Zaolzie, with the editorial staff of the émigré monthly "Kultura". One of the goals of the journal's editor, Jerzy Giedroyc, was to maintain the unity of Polish culture, which was threatened by division into "domestic" and "émigré" cultures. He maintained contact with Polish writers on both sides of the "Iron Curtain", but Kubisz's case was unique because he was a poet living both outside his homeland (in Czechoslovakia) and in a communist country. Giedroyc had many ideas on how to engage Kubisz in his political activities, but the poet's death in 1968 brought an end to all plans.
