Summary/Abstract: This article examines the course of one of the most interesting family conflicts in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the second half of the 17th century concerning a dispute over the division of the Nieśwież estates of the Radziwiłł line. After the death of Prince Aleksander Ludwik in March 1654, his first-born son Michał Kazimierz violated the terms of the last will and testament and inherited the estates that were the property of his stepmother Lukrecja Maria née Strozzi and half-brother Dominik Mikołaj. This began a long-term conflict, which was conducted both legally and using the "fait accompli" method. This dispute was only resolved in September 1671, after Prince Dominik came of age. The final division of the estates of this Radziwiłł line was then established. Michał Kazimierz and his descendants took over, among others, Biała, and Szydłowiec while Czarnawczyce remained in the hands of Dominik and his descendants (later the so-called younger Klec line).
