Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to highlight the main aspects of church music in the Arad region during the 19th century, a period marked by significant cultural and confessional transformations. The study analyzes the role of liturgical singing in the life of local communities, the stylistic influences stemming from both Byzantine and Western traditions, and the contributions of ecclesiastical and musical figures to the development of the liturgical repertoire. It also investigates how musical practices were transmitted through confessional schools and manuscripts, emphasizing their adaptation to the socio-cultural context of the time. Through this approach, the paper seeks to outline the regional specificity of Arad’s church music and to underline its importance within the Romanian musical heritage.
