Summary/Abstract: The framing of an architectural model based on the concept of non-growth is not only necessary, but also desirable, and even feasible. Although there is no consensual architectural, urban and design strategy covering all scales, a number of studies outlining operational conditions and methodologies demonstrate that science is creating the knowledge base necessary to make the abstract concept of non-growth tangible for practicing designers. This study aims to contribute to this process by i) presenting the architecture of non-growth as an interpretive scale, placing it in the field of non-architecture, radical or conceptual architecture, architecture without an architect, speculative architecture, and ii) applying a systems approach to examining the principles and proposals of non-growth urban planning in order to map out high-impact intervention points.
