Summary/Abstract: Political groups work according to a manifesto pursued by the party currently in power. After 1926 in the Republic, as a consequence of Józef Piłsudski's coup, there was no possibility that the Piłsudski camp and its political parliamentary emanations - the Nonpartisan Bloc for Cooperation with the Government (1928-1935) and the Camp of National Unity (1937-1939) - might lose power (through democratic elections). In spite of this, the First Marshal of Poland did not opt for a single party system, thus allowing legal opposition groups to be politically active. They campaigned more or less successfully against the NBCG and then the CNU both in the Sejm and in the public space with the conviction that the time would come when they would seize power in a legal manner - in parliamentary elections. By September 1939, this had not come to pass, and the government was manned by politicians from the Piłsudski camp.
