Summary/Abstract: This study proposes an interdisciplinary analysis of the relationship between perception, aesthetics, ethics, and theology, starting from the premise that beauty is not merely an ornamental addition to human experience, but a genuine form of educating the gaze. In dialogue with Rudolf Arnheim’s theory of “visual thinking,” the paper argues that perception is not a passive act of reception, but an active cognitive process through which human beings organize and interpret reality from the very moment of visual encounter. On this basis, the study explores the ethical implications of seeing: if perception already shapes thought, then the formation of the gaze becomes a matter of moral responsibility. The theological dimension is integrated through an examination of the Christian iconographic tradition, in which the image functions as a formative medium of attention and as a space for encountering the “face” of the person, thus transcending both aestheticism and idolatry. In the contemporary digital culture, marked by an overabundance of images and a fragmentation of attention, the paper identifies a genuine “crisis of vision” and argues for the necessity of a pedagogy of contemplation. Within this framework, Dostoevsky’s statement that “beauty will save the world” is reinterpreted anthropologically: beauty saves not by seduction, but by converting the gaze, orienting perception toward truth, goodness, and the recognition of personal dignity.
