Healing through Grace and Repentance

Summary/Abstract: The reality of illness, suffering and death in human life indicates the necessity and importance of healing. Man was created neither to suffer nor to die. The Christian life is about repentance and receiving divine grace. Both pursue the same goal: man’s salvation. Etymologically, the term ՙsalvation՚ means healing, the healing of man from the bodily and spiritual ills brought on by sins. Without the work of God, man cannot be saved, which is why the true meaning of repentance and the efficacy of its work can only be revealed in the presence and work of divine grace. On the other hand, without personal effort, divine grace remains only potential. It is offered as a gift to man at Baptism, but it cannot work against the person’s will; it is activated and blossoms in proportion to the repentance of the believer. In this context, healing, as a reality, occurs both as a result of the work of divine grace and as a result of personal repentance.
