Role and importance of the sport of judo in building a police officer

Summary/Abstract: Martial arts originate from the ancient traditions of various civilizations and cultures and are widespread in many regions around the world. It is undeniable that man has an innate instinct for self-preservation. It was he who played a key role in the discovery of various self-defense techniques. Even in prehistoric times, people had to fight for survival - to protect themselves, their family, their land and their home from wild animals or enemy attacks. During hunting or warfare, when they often relied solely on their own hands, mastering defensive techniques gave a significant advantage to the physically weaker.Judo is a martial art and Olympic sport created in Japan by Jigoro Kano in 1882 as a synthesis of physical training, moral education, and philosophy of behavior. A fundamental principle in judo is „seiryoku zenyo“ - maximum efficiency with minimal effort. Through a variety of throwing, holding and control techniques, judo develops not only strength and coordination, but also self-discipline and strategic thinking skills. Judo is often seen as a means of holistic personality development, promoting balance between body and mind, as well as the principles of ethical responsibility and social harmony.
