Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse what is currently written about Nicolaus Copernicus in history textbooks, both in Poland and Germany. Based on several dozen textbooks intended for secondary school students, the authors examine the substantive content (author's text as well as supplementary material) as well as the didactic setting (mainly illustrations). The obtained results are compared to previous studies on how Copernicus was presented in textbooks in Germany, Poland, Russia and Lithuania throughout the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Finally, the article looks at educational trends in both countries, which are visible in the manner and forms of the textbook narrative about Nicolaus Copernicus.
