Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to conduct an analysis of the social memory of the residents of southern Małopolska region regarding the Polish-Slovak conflict of 1938-1947 and to formulate proposals for actions that should be taken by Polish history politics concerning the analyzed topic in order to foster mutual understanding and reconciliation of the Polish and Slovak populations. The article consists of three parts. In the first part, Polish-Slovak relations in the years 1938-1947 will be presented. Subsequently, the collective memory of residents in southern Małopolska regarding Polish-Slovak relations in the years 1938-1947 will be subject to analysis. Finally, specific proposals for actions in the field of history politics will be formulated, outlining the steps that Polish state institutions at the local and central levels should take to bring about a change in the social memory of the residents of the examined region.
