INTERMODALITY AS A FOUNDATION FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY IN SOFIA

Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the current state of Sofia’s intermodal transport system and proposes a model for its spatial and functional restructuring through a transition from a radial-centralized to a polycentric transport model. The main emphasis is placed on the role of the metro as the structural backbone of urban mobility, the development of peripheral intermodal hubs, the integration of different transport modes, and the introduction of intelligent transport management systems.
