Summary/Abstract: I read Emanuel Modoc’s book The International of the Peripheries: The Network of Avant-Gardes in Central and Eastern Europe (Bucharest, Romanian Literature Museum Publishing House, 2020, 267 pp., ISBN 978-973-167-541-1) shortly after its release. Despite the fact that it directly intersected with my research interests, I postponed writing the review—proof that it is not only the avant-garde that operates with interruptions. I returned to the book recently, recommending it to a doctoral student studying the avant-garde phenomenon in Serbian literature, and the pleasure of this renewed reading finally motivated me to write the review.
