Summary/Abstract: Revision is an extraordinary way of appeal that can be exercised against the final judgments issued by the criminal courts, this being a way of appeal of retraction, allowing the criminal court to review its own decision. This is also considered a de facto appeal since within the review there is the way to remove judicial errors. The essential condition in the case of revision is that it is formulated against a criminal decision that has acquired the authority of res judicata. Over time, the revision institution underwent several changes, the last one being through Law no. 173/2022.
