Summary/Abstract: Digital citizenship refers to the set of skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to navigate the digital world responsibly and effectively and includes three key components: digital literacy, critical thinking and responsibility. This concept complements democratic citizenship, and education in its spirit involves not only the knowledge, awareness, and responsible exercise of human rights, but also the extension of these into the virtual environment, accompanied by the adaptation of legislation and the securing of virtual navigation. The applicability of the concept of digital citizenship to history and civics lessons can be implemented specifically in current curricula, and the use of AI platform tools facilitates the teacher's work, diversifies teaching-learning-assessment methods, and adapts the educational approach to the digital age.
