Summary/Abstract: This study investigated fish species diversity in Lake Modrac, ahydroaccumulation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during November and December2020. A total of 214 fish specimens were caught at 10 different locations using gillnets, and 9 species from 6 families were identified. The most represented speciesbelong to the family Leuciscidae, including Abramis brama, Leuciscus aspius andScardinius erythrophthalmus. Invasive species such as Carassius gibelio, Ameiurusmelas and Sander lucioperca were also present, posing a threat to nativepopulations. The total biomass of all caught fish amounted to 152,373 grams, with the heaviest specimen being Leuciscus aspius weighing 4,800 grams.Biodiversity indices (Shannon-Weaver) indicated poor water quality, with valuesmostly below 1, suggesting a high level of pollution. Bray-Curtis cluster analysisshowed the highest similarity in species composition between locations L9 andL10. The low species diversity compared to earlier data is likely a result ofseasonal conditions, as fish retreat to deeper water layers during winter. Theecological assessment also indicated anthropogenic pressures such as pollutionand habitat changes. The report calls for the implementation of measures toprotect native fish populations and to control the spread of invasive species. Keywords: Modrac hydroaccumulation; Lukavac; ichthyofauna; ecology
