Summary/Abstract: This article presents cross-border practices in the everyday lives of Cieszyn residents. The premise for the undertaken considerations was the desire to learn about the mechanisms of cultural transfer, encompassing the flow of material and immaterial objects. Cieszyn is an example of a city divided by an artificial state border and undergoing a process of consolidation after both countries joined the Schengen area. The result of these events is numerous bottom-up and top-down initiatives. The theoretical framework comprises the concepts of „the right to the city and spatial space”, „the sociology of everyday life”, „debordering” and „borderscapes”. Cross-border phenomena were measured by: frequency of crossing main arteries, purposes of visits and selection of popular places in Český Těšín, modes of transportation, and opinions on why Czechs use services on the Polish side. The analysis of the responses was based on empirical material collected using individual face-to-face questionnaire interviews. The conclusions drawn from the research outline the dimensions of observed cross-border practices.
