Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyse the issue of the censorship of visual materials in the Austrian Empire using the example of a treason trial brought in 1834 against several employees of the Ossoliński National Institute in Lviv, including, first and foremost, its director Konstanty Słotwiński. The subject of the lawsuit was the publication and distribution of patriotic prints without permission from the censorship office. The court case primarily concerned texts – 22 books and pamphlets – in addition to which some visual materials were also addressed. Their analysis can contribute to the study of patriotic iconography in the Lviv milieu in the first half of the 19th century.
