Summary/Abstract: Humanitarian intervention, as an action of international actors towards states, is an act under which the idea of state sovereignty and the requirements of a universally applicable human rights come into ambiguous relationships. The article presents the analysis of the idea of sovereignty in the context of humanitarian intervention and human rights as its moral reason. It turns out that the analysis of these relationships brings the opportunity to redefine the concepts of sovereignty and human rights. There is shown the re-identification of roles of these ideas, which can be made by analysis of these relationships.
