Summary/Abstract: The study examines the transformation of Hungarian teacher education after 2022, highlighting the relationship and uniqueness of global and domestic policy tensions. The analysis showed that reforms were driven by addressing labour market needs and systemic challenges. Double management and centralized decentralization efforts have made the relationship between education and public education fragmented. At the institutional level, model changes, changes emphasizing national identity and the public service role interpretation of teachers have transformed the institutional system and the role of individual institutions. Turbulent legislation has come into tension with the interpretation of professional autonomy.
