Summary/Abstract: The linguopragmatic use of international trade terms in Russian and Chinese contract texts was examined based on the study of their pragmatic potential, which in many ways defines the corresponding contractual relations and their legal status, and translation equivalents. It was demonstrated that specialized terms enhance the accuracy of professional communication, help eliminate ambiguity, and influence the interpretation of contract arrangements by participants in foreign economic activities. Comparative analysis of a corpus of authentic Russian and Chinese contract documents was carried out, and the areas of convergence and divergence in the terminological systems and communicative approaches of Russia and China were revealed. According to the obtained results, the effectiveness of cross-cultural communication in international trade is directly determined by the adequate selection and use of terms, as well as their contextual adaptation. The findings are of practical significance for translation, jurisprudence, and linguistics specialists, working to make international legal communication more accurate and reliable.
