Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the concepts of sovereignity, selfdetermination and autonomy in the new political context, starting from the Russian intervention in Crimea and going towards the American one in Serbia, thus paralleling the two cases. At the same time, the reasons backing the decisions of the two superpowers officials are analyzed.
