Summary/Abstract: Ex libris, as a form of graphic and cultural expression, represents a privileged site of interaction between bibliophilic identity and the spiritual dimension of existence. Beyond its original function as a mark of ownership, it evolves into a complex visual language capable of reflecting the inner universe, values, and symbolic affiliations of the book’s owner. The present study examines the ways in which religious symbols – particularly representations of churches and monasteries – manifest within the art of ex libris, both from an iconographic and a symbolic perspective. These images are not merely decorative elements, but meaningful structures that convey messages related to faith, tradition, and spiritual identity. At the same time, the research highlights the role of ex libris in preserving religious memory within written culture through the integration of sacred motifs, pious formulas, and references to ecclesiastical space. In this context, ex libris may be interpreted as a cultural and spiritual document situated at the intersection of the book, tradition, and religious experience. Through this approach, the study underscores the value of ex libris as a mediating form between the sacred and the profane, tradition and artistic expression, positioning it at the confluence of written and spiritual heritage.
