Endless Repatriation. The Impact of the Actions of Polish Political Elites and Dramatic Social Changes on the Shape and Effectiveness of the Repatriation Process of Descendants of Poles Deported to Kazakhstan in 1936

Summary/Abstract: The article describes, in chronological order, political decisions and legal acts adopted in Poland concerning the unfinished repatriation of Poles from Kazakhstan. This is an example illustrating the policy of the Polish state towards its own minority (Kin-states Policies). The author refers to the concept of Identity Process Theory (IPT) and the classical definition of the diaspora by W. Safran. The direct link between processes at the macropolitical level and identity changes at the individual level was emphasized.
