Contemporary Projections of Musical Pedagogical Ideas of Dobri Hristov

Summary/Abstract: The publication presents a contemporary reading of Dobri Hristov’s rich musical pedagogical heritage. Theoretically, musicological and methodological observations and reflections of some Bulgarian authors (Mariana Buleva-Petrova, Boryana Mangova, Penka Mincheva, etc.) are reviewed. An attempt was made to outline the importance of the musical and pedagogical heritage bequeathed by Dobri Hristov from historical, pedagogical, and musical-theoretical perspectives, with a focus on certain ideas about music education. The publication’s practical application perspective is expressed through a meaningful analysis, used as a basic research method, of the educational ideas of Dobri Hristov, presented in his “General Teaching on Music” and in the Preface to the collection “The Spring Sings”. Archival digitised units included in the collection of the National library “St. Cyril and Methodius”, as well as those provided by colleagues, were researched and analysed. The purpose is to present some of the main musical pedagogical ideas of Dobri Hristov that provided impetus and provoked searches for various contemporary dimensions in non-professional music education.
