Summary/Abstract: Virgil P. Nemoianu (born March 12, 1940, Bucharest, Romania – died June 6, 2025) was a philosopher of culture, essayist, literary critic, and Romanian‑American professor. Raised in the tradition of ‘massive libraries,’ ‘in Romanian, German, and especially French,’ and in the spirit of intellectual joy, Virgil Nemoianu, a ‘fierce reader’ with a taste for reading encyclopedias, confessed that he could not even imagine any occupation more elevated than that of an intellectual.
