Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses the problem of recognition as reformulated by Marek Hrubec in his book Od zneuznání ke spravedlnosti: Kritická teorie globální společnosti a politiky (From disregard to justice: A critical theory of global society and politics). The discussion follows on from the previous articles by Ľuboš Blaha and Marek Hrubec published in Studia Politica Slovaca, which contain a polemic on some points in Hrubec’s monograph. Our aim is to address those aspects which have so far been omitted from discussion. Hrubec not only clarifies the problem of recognition but backs it up with solid methodology (with regard to the development of critical theory), outlines dilemmas of local and transnational recognition and formulates global prospects of recognition. Hrubec’s analysis requires an intercultural approach substantiating the evolution of international and global order in terms of different forms of recognition in different cultural settings that have the potential to demonstrate the possibilities and ways of articulation of the order beyond national borders, by which Hrubec transcends classical authors on recognition.
