Summary/Abstract: The article presents the author’s position on the work of the university teacher through the approach of the Three “P”. The author’s goal is to show the complex nature of teaching as a profession, vocation, and challenge. Drawing on Phil Reis's ideas about the natural path of learning, the author outlines the path of a young person who has chosen this profession: from the intention (motivation) to dedicate oneself to it, through the efforts to realize this intention by winning the relevant scientific competition, the support of the important people in one's life (positive feedback) to establishing oneself in the profession - for it to become the meaning of one's life. Only then would he dedicate many years to her, with all the advantages and disadvantages of this choice. In support of the author's thesis, opinions of future teachers – doctoral students from NATFA, studying the discipline “Methodology of Academic Teaching”, are presented. Some of them also have experience as teachers. The course helps them put the “puzzle” together, to find the “missing pieces” – the knowledge and skills they need to acquire and build on in order to do better as teachers. The conclusion and conclusions at the end of the article point to the conditions and necessary actions of the university lecturer to achieve a full and effective learning process with students.
