Summary/Abstract: When presenting one aspect of electoral silence in detail, namely the prohibition of the publication of pre-election opinion polls, the author focuses on the differing opinions of representatives of the doctrine. Supporters of the prohibition argue, among other things, that it has a positive impact on voter behaviour and the prestige of elections. Despite counterarguments pointing to the archaic nature of electoral silence, this institution currently seems to be widely accepted.
