Summary/Abstract: For many years now, intangible cultural heritage practices have been a key political issue in China. The valorisation of ICH has thus made it possible to develop certain rural districts with high tourist value, and to promote a national discourse without neglecting the international dimension of these heritages. This article focuses on a rural district in Shaanxi province, where the author has been conducting research since 1995. Over the last 30 years, she has observed how national policies are implemented locally, and how local actors and bearers of practices can become involved on several scales.
