Summary/Abstract: On the morning of April 25, 1974, as on every other day, after taking the 4 — my tram — I arrived at Carmo and headed to the Faculty of Arts, the building of the former Medical School, where, after Arts, the Biomedical Sciences program also operated. At the entrance, the doorman was blocking our way, because there had been a coup in Lisbon, they said. There would be no classes. In those distant times, when we had neither the internet nor mobile phones, all we had was the radio — and going to Piolho to wait for news. I remember that there was a strange filtered light inside, and we stood there speculating about what might be happening, caught between fear and hope.
