Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to examine the reception of Fernando Pessoa’s poetic works in Romania, from Pessoa’s introduction to Romanian readers in the 60s to the present day. The first section outlines the history of translations and criticism of Pessoa’s poetry published in our country, while the second part explores the echoes of Pessoa’s poetic works in the writings of five Romanian authors: Ştefan Aug. Doinaş, Alexandru Muşina, Constantin Abăluţă, Alex. Leo Şerban and Dinu Flămând. The paper shows that a significant body of translations and scholarship on Pessoa’s works has been produced in Romania during the last six decades, and that Romanian writers have constantly played a leading role in promoting his poetry. However, part of Pessoa’s poetic works, particularly of his heteronymic poetry, is currently yet to be translated, and there is considerable room for development in academic research.
