Summary/Abstract: Communism, although initially presented as a system meant to bring progress and social equality, proved to be hostile to any form of religious expression. The experience of the Orthodox Churches in Russia, Bulgaria, and Albania clearly shows that the regime sought not only the marginalization of ecclesiastical institutions but also the erasure of faith from people’s hearts. Despite the pressure, hierarchs, clergy, and believers found ways to resist and kept the confession of Christ alive, sometimes even at the cost of their lives. Therefore, remembering these events remains necessary not only as an exercise in historical memory but also as a warning for present and future generations: faith can be constrained, but it cannot be annihilated. The sufferings endured by the Orthodox in Bulgaria and Albania stand as a living testimony of spiritual resilience and of the strength that faith offers to those who refuse to renounce God.
