Summary/Abstract: The papers published in this volume represent the results of three years of work by a team of researchers. Using ethnographic methods, we investigated social and cultural resilience and resistance in several small regions of the Carpathian Basin. The popular concept of resilience has been loosened and its meaning expanded in recent decades. Our research team set out to reposition the concept in the scientific paradigm and to rethink its analytical value. We linked to a dynamic concept that goes beyond the static model of resilience. Indeed, in observing and understanding human entities, we consider learning, adaptation and change, in addition to resistance and rebound, as part of resilient behavior, insofar as they contribute to the restoration of a state of equilibrium or the creation of a new equilibrium state, while preserving the essential elements. The project aimed to understand the drivers and dynamics of continuity and transformation.
