Summary/Abstract: Based on the writings of Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno (Dialectic of Enlightenment) in the excursus Odysseus or Myth and Enlightenment, I talk about a certain vision of the nomadic identity, using Odysseus’ scar as a metaphor which stands for recognition of „sickness“of the Western thought. Odysseus, as the Son of Pain, deconstructs the symbolic norm of the powerful and homogeneous universe of thought, where the path marks cognitive structures and values. Contrary to that, Odysseus’ wanderings represent transformation, or perhaps, transition toward the “open sea” of journey of a “completely weak bodily self that only gets its self-esteem through myths.”In the context of postcolonial justification, it is important to analyse the presence of the Odysseus myth in the construction of the world we live in, and conduct a test in which the mentioned myth and epic that “takes” it as its framework, indeed “perfectly” fit in the philosophy of logical positivism. Therefore, the decline of trust in ideological powers of Enlightenment brings to gradual separation of the novel from clear philosophical dimensions. We assume that hermeneutical and communicational encounter in the myth of Odysseus is implemented through the motive of wandering and weaving, what Postmodernism confirms with its fragmentation of the narrative structure which can be seen as a “preparation for the myth”.
