Summary/Abstract: Modern civil airports are not only transfer points in the global transport network, but also strategic elements of the state infrastructure. Their efficient functioning depends not only on advanced technologies and security procedures, but also on the proper flow of information. In this context, disinformation is a serious threat that can disrupt not only daily operations, but also the safety of passengers and staff. Disinformation at civil airports can take many forms, from minor inaccuracies in flight communications, to false bomb alerts, to elaborate campaigns aimed at destabilising the air transport system. The sources of these actions are diverse: they can be unintentional human errors, failures of information systems, but also deliberate actions of terrorist groups, criminal groups, activists, and even the intelligence services of foreign countries. In the case of deliberate disinformation activities, we are dealing with a complex social engineering process. The aim of the study is to present the threat of disinformation as an act of unlawful interference, which is a threat to the security of civil airports. The research problem was included in the form of a question: how to improve the organization of the airport security system in order to identify and counteract threats such as disinformation? The research hypothesis was adopted that the current system of protection of civil airports does not guarantee effective identification and counteracting information threats, such as disinformation, therefore it requires constant evaluation and adaptation to changing threats.
