Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on systematizing knowledge about social resilience, arguing that the absence of a shared definition and standardized measurement procedures weakens both cumulative research efforts and the design of public policies. The author critically examines selected theoretical models and measurement tools used to assess social resilience in the context of contemporary threats. This perspective makes it possible to distil their common core - essential for enhancing communities' capacities to absorb shocks, adapt, and recover. As a result, the study identifies methodological shortcomings and gaps arising from underlying ontological and epistemological assumptions, and specifies their practical implications for security policy aimed at building social resilience. The conclusion presents the findings and recommendations on how to measure and strengthen social resilience effectively in the face of modern hazards.
