Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to bring some unknow facts about the life and artistic legacy of priest and painter Alexander Buzna (1868 – 1945). He worked as a priest in the territory of today’s western Slovakia, in the territory of Apostolic Ad¬ministration of Trnava. Thanks his art talent, became known as a skilled portraitist, author of religious paintings, restorer and inspector of church art. In spite of absence of a higher art education, was a sought-after artist, especially in church circles. Although was his work extensive, is still a relatively unknown personality. Except¬ed life events of Buzna, is this study focusing on presenting a selection of the au¬thor’s works and on a basic art-historical evaluation of the characteristics of artistic creation.
