Summary/Abstract: Various artists – painters, sculptors, composers, performers – drew inspiration for their creative work by walking. And some of them included the act of walking in their artistic work – whether by going on a walk that became part of an artistic event, or by transforming the experience of walking into artistic matter in their own way. Constantin Brâncuşi walked to Paris, and his gesture was repeated a hundred years later by the Polish artist Robert Kuśmirowski. Ludovico Einaudi transformed his Alpine hikes into a several-hour piece entitled Seven Days Walking. Alberto Giacometti’s most famous sculpture is L’Homme qui marche (The Walking Man). Many artists and their works prove that walking can be not only an inspiration but a work of art itself.
