Summary/Abstract: Un-packing: Memory Gaps became an exhibition about the past, an examination of the mechanisms of the working of group memory in conditions of migration and political tension. Violence does not vanish together with historical events but lasts in the form of silence and fragmentary reminiscences. In this sense “memory gaps” are not so much emptiness as special space in which the future assumes shape via that which society decides to remember or forget.
