Summary/Abstract: Russian aggression against Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022 elicited a strong reaction from most Western countries. However, not all states worldwide took a firm stance against the invasion, adopting more neutral position. An example of such an approach was the reaction of Vietnam, whose strategy in foreign policy is based on the principles of "bamboo diplomacy", understood as flexibility in actions and keeping an equal distance between the superpowers. The authorities in Hanoi preserve amicable relations with both conflicting countries. Moreover, while maintaining the traditional partnership with China, Vietnam has also sought rapprochement with the United States. The main objective of this article is an analysis of Vietnam's foreign policy, and diplomatic initiatives concerning conflict in Ukraine, shedding light on diplomatic strategy adopted by politicians in Hanoi and their subsequent actions between 2022 and 2023. The article aims to address how Vietnam built a neutral position regarding war in Ukraine, publicly emphasizing the principles such as respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, while abstaining from voting on resolutions deemed unfavorable to Russia.
