Summary/Abstract: The housing crisis in Indonesia is worsened by a significant backlog and frequent natural disasters. While Temporary Housing plays a vital role in disaster response, its sustainability is hindered by material degradation, high carbon footprints, and limited integration with circular economy principles. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining a systematic literature review and quantitative analysis of 60 disaster experts and users, to identify key sustainability issues (Noaman & El-Ghafour, 2024; Rapone et al., 2024). Five main strategies emerge, including the use of local and organic materials, modular and prefabricated systems, renewable energy integration, passive design strategies, and socio-cultural considerations. Descriptive statistics show that Local and Organic Materials rank highest (mean = 2.72), followed by Modular Systems (2.58), Renewable Energy (2.55), Passive Design (2.53), and Socio-Cultural Considerations (2.37). ANOVA (p = 0.572) and Tukey HSD tests reveal no significant differences between strategies, highlighting the need for holistic integration. The findings emphasize the importance of eco-friendly materials, circular economy principles, and modular designs tailored to Indonesia's context. These insights inform policy recommendations for revising Temporary Housing standards, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 9, 11, and 12), and offering scalable solutions for other developing nations facing similar challenges.
