Summary/Abstract: In the 21st-century research, many authors have addressed issues related to Polish-foreign bilingualism, the influence of social and cultural factors on attitudes toward the Polish language, and changes in ethnic and cultural identity. Oftentimes, interdisciplinary methods were used to study these topics. The studies concerned Polish communities living in various countries. One research trend postulates the inclusion of studies on Polish-foreign bilingualism within the broader framework of Polish linguistic history. Contemporary political situation and the ongoing migration processes pose new challenges in the fields of multiculturalism, language policy, and language diversity, which in turn influences linguistic research.
