Summary/Abstract: The article examines the visual representation of migrants on the covers of opinion weeklies. The analysis encompasses 158 covers published between 2020 and 2025, treated as persuasive multimodal editorial comments. Grounded in contemporary theories of visual rhetoric and media discourse analysis, the study reconstructs dominant topoi, emotional strategies, and ideological differences in migration narratives in Poland and Germany. The analyzed covers not only reflect political disputes but also actively co-create them by programming the emotions of the audience. However, the presence of topoi of solidarity and pragmatic political perspectives suggests that this discourse is diverse and subject to ideological negotiations. Additionally, quantitative data indicate a dominance of negative portrayals, particularly in Polish opinion weeklies, which reinforces a narrative of fear and the opposition of "us versus them."
