Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the text of Oponerse a las estrellas by Matos Fragoso, Martínez de Meneses y Moreto shows the text's notable degree of "courtlyness" in regard to the dramatic situations it presents, and refined sequences of the cuestiones de amor, the very detailed stage directions and the gracioso's discreet humor with recurrent allusions to courtly habits. Various leisures inherent to life in the court, such as strolls through the gardens or galleries, are also mentioned. The article is part of a wider study that analyzes the corpus of plays written Moreto and other dramatists in this light, in order to demonstrate their origins in courtly life.
