Summary/Abstract: This study presents an analysis of a science fiction short story by Quebecoisauthor J.P. April, entitled “Voyage au centre de la planète Mer” [Journey to the Centreof the Sea Planet]. The story is one of polysemic calamity, where meta discoursecharacterizes its writing and reading, as the author/narrator communicates directly andindirectly with his son through the plot that they share, as it were. The stakes of theintrigue are relevant to the pseudo-reality in which the father and child are living aswell as to the framed narrative, for the apocalyptic tone touches at once the whole ofhumanity and these particular characters, according to the crises they experience.
