Summary/Abstract: State sovereignty has been debated for many years. The processes of globalization and growing interdependence between states have brought sovereignty in the economic sphere increasingly into focus. One of the interesting aspects of this discussion is tax sovereignty, which--especially as a result of the ongoing globalization process and the emergence of new digital business models--is gradually eroding in terms of the state's ability to effectively exercise its fiscal power. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the extent to which the development of the digital economy impacts tax sovereignty of the state and, in this context, to assess the proposal for a new mechanism for taxing "digital" international corporations presented by the OECD as part of the so-called Pillar One.
