Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to present forensic aspects of the analysis of artists' signatures placed on sculptures. Forensic analysis is based on the analysis of handwriting and could be applied to the research of artists' signatures. In the attribution process, the signature is the first source of information about the author. Therefore, it is vital to learn about the signing methods used by a particular artist and to establish if the artist used different types of signatures. As a result, the study specifies a catalogue of information available in the process of attributing a work of art, which should be considered when analysing artists' signatures. The catalogue is based on the observation of a significant number of photos of signatures taken in European museums. Next, a description of each stage of the analysis is provided, as well as the legal aspects of the forgery of artists' signatures.
