Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the state of arts education in Romania, situated at the confluence of a solid academic tradition and the need to adapt to the dynamics of a changing society. It explores the challenges existing in pre-university education, the limitations related to funding and infrastructure, along with the opportunities brought by digitalization, interdisciplinarity and the recognition of the role of creative industries. Particular attention is paid to the relevance and impact of the UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education, adopted in 2024, as a strategic guide for the holistic and lifelong integration of the arts in the Romanian education system. All these aspects are analyzed through the lens of the persistent socio-economic crisis, which deepens disparities and influences budgetary allocations. The article proposes concrete recommendations for the sustainable development of this vital field for a creative and innovative society, despite economic constraints.
