Reporting violations of European Union law : Whistleblower Protection

Summary/Abstract: EU Directive 2019/1937 on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law institutionalises the protection of whistleblowers in the EU and introduces minimum standards for the protection of whistleblowers. Bulgaria has transposed the Directive by adopting a national legal framework. The external channel and most of the internal reporting channels have been established. The challenges lie in the implementation of the legal framework and the effective protection of whistleblowers.
